What is the new legislation and who does it apply to?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a privacy and data protection regulation for all EU citizens and information related to those subjects effective from 25 May 2018.

The GDPR imposes new obligations on all organisations that control or process relevant personal data and introduces new rights and protections for EU data subjects.

The GDPR applies to data processing carried out by organisations operating within the EU. It also applies to organisations outside the EU that offer goods or services to individuals in the EU.

Who we are

Rapier Computers Ltd is an Information Technology and Recruitment Company with no supply chain for services or products. We provide Risk Management and Security Consultancy to the commercial sector, government bodies, individuals, and Recruitment Services within the IT sector.

What we have undertaken already towards GDPR compliance

The new obligations are related to the control and processing of personal data.

Rapier has undertaken a review of its operations, which are restricted in scope to particular activities. It has no products or supply chains, and our working practices are individually controlled. We ensure our processing is inside the EU and that it is conducted within a risk managed environment and that it is compliant to our legal obligations.

Our Company Data Policy and where you can find it

Our new data protection policy is available to everyone.

The DPO (Data Protection Officer) role is not required. However any responsibilities or routines necessary for the tasks are with the director of the company.
